Digital Video over your computer Network!

A number of commercial products offer solutions to run digital media over your network.  Start up of these products is extremely expensive and ongoing subscriptions can also break the budget.  Often it involves purchasing a special program and then buying individual video titles.

KidMedia uses Microsoft applications that you already have and you can make your own digital video on site without the expense of purchasing additional titles.  You already have video tapes in your library.  Why not make the video tapes more accessible to students by making them available on your computer network?

KidMedia allows students to view digital video on classroom computers.  This allows teachers to easily setup workstations for students to view video with headphones and then complete tasks once they have viewed the video content.  Teachers can use KidMedia as a whole group using a data projector or in small groups using classroom computers.  Similar to a listening post, students can now view content using video anytime without having to borrow the video tape from the library.

KidMedia is a great way to enhance your reading and viewing programs.  It also provides a fantastic catalyst for students to write!

Rather than the thousands of dollars it costs for other commercial video network programs, KidMedia offers a comparable solution for less than $500.  It is extremely easy to use... students can even operate it.

Why is it so inexpensive?  KidMedia uses Microsoft applications which schools already have  to make it work.  Windows Media Player is a free download.  There are no ongoing subscription costs.  Schools can make their own digital media from videos already in school libraries.  Once you have KidMedia, we can show you how to convert your own video tapes and add it to KidMedia.  If you don't have the time... we can do it for you.

Schools already have special copyright permissions... but call the vendors of your video tapes just to be sure that the digital conversions don't breach copyright.
